How to Ship Clothes from Bangladesh to the UAE (Dubai)

Want to ship clothes from Bangladesh to the UAE — a Jamdani saree for a wedding in Dubai, Eid panjabis for the family in Sharjah, or salwar kameez for Abu Dhabi? You can, and clothing is one of the easiest things to send. This guide explains the UAE customs rules, the AED 1,000 duty limit, the 5% VAT, real costs in dirhams and delivery times, as of November 2026.

💡 The short version

Clothes from Bangladesh can be shipped to the UAE without any permit. Since 3 August 2026, Dubai Customs charges no customs duty on goods worth AED 1,000 or less, but 5% import VAT can still apply. Above AED 1,000, expect about 5% duty plus 5% VAT and a courier fee. Delivery takes about 4–10 days. Two panjabis and a Tant saree cost roughly AED 480–525 delivered (estimate).

Can I Ship Clothes from Bangladesh to the UAE?

Yes. Sarees, panjabis, salwar kameez, kurtis, lungis and children's clothes are normal personal goods in the UAE. They need no import permit and no special paperwork for a family order.

What matters is the value of the parcel. That decides whether you pay only VAT, or VAT plus customs duty. I declare the real value on every parcel, so you know the likely charge before I ship.

Two simple limits: I ship for personal and family use, not for resale. And I don't add alcohol-based perfume to clothing parcels, because alcohol is excluded from the UAE duty exemption and couriers restrict it. See what I cannot ship from Bangladesh.

Do I Pay Customs Duty or VAT on Clothes in the UAE?

There are two different charges. Customs duty is a border tax. VAT is the UAE's 5% value added tax, which is also charged on imports.

The AED 1,000 notice comes from Dubai Customs. If your parcel clears customs in another emirate, the treatment may be a little different. Gifts get no special allowance in the UAE: DHL says gifts and samples have no duty or VAT concession. Read the wider customs duty guide for Bangladesh parcels for other countries.

⚠️ Honest note on the limit

Customs can add shipping to the value. If you want to stay safely under AED 1,000, keep the clothes plus shipping under that figure. I will not under-declare a parcel, and I will not split one order into several parcels just to dodge the limit. Customs can treat them as one shipment, and you risk a hold.

How Much Does It Cost to Ship Clothes from Bangladesh to Dubai?

The dirham is pegged at about 3.67 to the US dollar, so these AED figures are my usual US dollar ranges converted. They are estimates; your quote gives the exact figure.

A saree or a panjabi usually weighs about 300–600 g, so 1 kg fits one or two pieces. Couriers charge by actual weight or box size, whichever is higher, so I fold clothes flat and use a snug box.

Real Examples: What You Pay at the Door

Example 1 — Eid order under the limit. Two cotton panjabis and one Tant saree cost about AED 257 in Dhaka. Add my AED 44 fee and Aramex shipping of AED 147–184. The goods are far below AED 1,000, so there is no customs duty. Import VAT of about AED 21 and a courier fee (DHL's is AED 15 at this level) may apply. Total: roughly AED 480–525 delivered.

Example 2 — wedding Jamdani over the limit. A fine Jamdani costs about AED 1,100. With about AED 165 of shipping, the CIF value is about AED 1,265. At 5% duty (about AED 63) plus 5% VAT on value and duty (about AED 66), the taxes come to about AED 130, plus the courier's fee. With DHL that fee is AED 110. I show this in your quote before you pay.

How Long Does Delivery to the UAE Take?

Plan on about one to two weeks from your first message to your door:

Bangladesh is two hours ahead of the UAE, so I can usually reply on WhatsApp during your working day.

When Should I Order for Eid or a Wedding?

Eid ul-Fitr 2027 is expected around 10 March, depending on the moon, so Ramadan will begin in early February. Message me 3–4 weeks before Eid. Dhaka shops get very busy as Eid gets close, and couriers are busier too.

The Bangladeshi wedding season runs from November to February. For a wedding outfit, start 4–6 weeks before the date. Shopping for the whole family? Read wedding shopping from abroad.

How Do I Get the Right Size from the UAE?

Bangladeshi sizes can run slimmer and shorter than international store sizes, so please don't order by S, M or L alone. Measure a piece that already fits you well:

I match your numbers to the shop's own size chart and tell you honestly if a design runs small.

How Do I Know the Clothes Are Genuine?

For brands such as Aarong, I buy at the brand's own Dhaka outlet and keep the receipt and tag. For Jamdani, I check the weave in person, because machine copies are common; read real Jamdani vs machine-made. I send photos before I buy, and photos of the packed parcel before it ships.

One honest limit: colours on a phone screen can look slightly different. If the exact shade matters, ask me for a photo in daylight.
