In Dhaka, good tailoring is everywhere and costs a small fraction of that. The only problem is that you are not here for a fitting. Here is how remote tailoring works, how to measure properly, and what it honestly can and can't do.

Remote tailoring is only as good as the numbers. Two ways work well:
I send you a simple measurement sheet for your garment type, and I ask about anything that looks unusual before the fabric is cut. Bangladeshi ready-made sizing runs slimmer and shorter than North American sizing, so your own numbers matter more than a size label.
A normal tailoring job in Dhaka takes about 5–10 days; add buying, checking and 3–7 working days of express shipping. So plan for 2–3 weeks from order to your door. Before Eid it is different: tailors get very busy and stop taking new orders in the last weeks, so order at least 5–6 weeks ahead for Eid outfits (see Eid gift planning).
The tailoring charge in Dhaka is usually small compared with the fabric and shipping: simple stitching of a blouse or salwar kameez is often in the range of $5–20, while embroidery, karchupi work, sherwani and suits cost more. Without a fitting, there is always some risk on a first order, especially for fitted blouses and suits. I check the finished garment against your measurements and send photos, but a small alteration by a local tailor abroad may still be needed. Easy-fit garments like panjabi and kameez are the safest first order; once a tailor has your numbers, repeat orders get better.
